Xylazin 2% Injection contains 20 mg of xylazine hydrochloride per ml. As an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, it induces dose-dependent sedation, mild analgesia, and muscle relaxation. Sedation typically lasts 1–2 hours, while analgesia persists for 15–30 minutes. It is suitable for use during transport, parturition, hoof treatment, radiographic examinations, and minor surgical procedures. Xylazin 2% is also employed as a premedication for surgery and local or regional anesthesia.
Usage:
Administration Route: Intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV), or subcutaneous (SC) injection.
Dosage:
Cattle (IM): 0.25–1.5 ml per 100 kg body weight.
Horses (IV): 3–5 ml per 100 kg body weight.
Sheep (IM): 0.1–0.25 ml per 10 kg body weight.
Goats (IM): 0.025–0.1 ml per 10 kg body weight.
Dogs (IM): 0.05–0.15 ml per kg body weight.
Cats (IM): 0.15 ml per kg body weight.
