Dormilan is a sterile, clear solution intended for IM, IV, or (in cats) SC administration in dogs and cats. Its active ingredient, medetomidine hydrochloride, is a selective α₂‑agonist providing sedation, muscle relaxation, and some analgesia. Dormilan is commonly used to calm animals for clinical examinations or as a premedication before general anaesthesia. The onset of maximal sedative effect occurs in 10–20 minutes, with a duration of action typically from 30 up to 180 minutes depending on dose and species.
