The Zilco Rubber Figure 8 Noseband features a single-piece rubber construction that provides just enough elasticity to allow an easy fit while maintaining firm contact and stability. This crossover or “Figure 8” configuration helps position the bit slightly higher in the horse’s mouth than a standard noseband, an advantage in racing and other high-performance disciplines. It is mounted on a headpiece made from Zilco’s coated webbing with a stainless-steel buckle. Suitable across multiple equestrian disciplines beyond racing, it offers a clean aesthetic finish and practical durability.
Usage
Target Species: Horses
Application: Worn under the bridle as part of the head-gear to enhance bit control and stability, especially during flat racing, training, or other performance riding.
Method:
Place the bridle on the horse’s head as usual, then fit the Figure 8 noseband, ensuring it sits correctly: the single rubber strap should cross under the chin and run up between the horse’s nostrils, then over the cheeks to form the “8” shape.
Adjust the buckle on the coated webbing headpiece so the noseband is snug and comfortable, placing the bit at a slightly higher position than a standard noseband fit.
After riding, unbuckle the noseband, wipe off any sweat or dirt residue, inspect the rubber and webbing for wear or stretching, and allow to air dry before storing.
Frequency:
Suitable for every ride where enhanced bit control and performance head-gear is required.
Prior to each use, check the rubber strap for signs of hardening, cracking or loss of elasticity, and replace if compromised.
Features and Benefits
One-piece rubber strap: Provides a good fit with minimal fuss, easy to apply and removes the bulk of multiple straps.
Figure 8 design: Raises the bit slightly and helps keep the mouth calmer and more focused, useful in racing and performance settings.
Coated webbing headpiece with stainless-steel buckle: Enhances durability, provides strength and simplifies maintenance compared with full-leather alternatives.
Single size (one size) in Black: Simplifies purchasing and ensures compatibility with most adult horse head sizes.
Versatile across disciplines: Although very popular in racing, it can also be used in other performance or training setups where bit stability and clean aesthetics are valued.
