Usage

• Target Species: Horses (and ponies)

• Application: After bathing, hosing down or intense exercise when the coat is wet, use this scraper to remove excess water and aid quicker drying.

• Method:

  1. Ensure the horse is safely led or tied and calm.

  2. Hold the sweat scraper by the body with the rubber-edged side facing the horse’s coat.

  3. Starting at the neck or shoulders, pull the scraper down the body in smooth strokes, following the contours of the horse and wiping the water off toward the flanks and undercarriage.

  4. Use multiple strokes until the majority of the water is removed.

  5. Optionally, follow up with a towel or sponge to finish drying.

  6. Clean the sweat scraper after use, rinse off any debris, and hang or store it dry.

• Frequency:

  • Use every time the horse has been hosed, bathed, clipped or sweated heavily.

  • Inspect the scraper for damage (rubber edge, plastic body) regularly; replace if chipped, cracked or the rubber edge is worn.
